Health questionnaires often use the same questions for everyone. However, people from different backgrounds, life experiences, and health conditions may understand or relate to those questions in different ways.
Our goal is to create shorter questionnaires that are tailored to each person’s unique social and health contexts. We are testing a new approach called mixture computerized adaptive testing or mixture-CAT for short. It uses background information about a person to select the questions that may be most relevant to them. This helps make questionnaires more personalized and meaningful.
